Jan. 2, 2007 - Smitty's acquire Fairfax Millwork and Building Products

Smitty's Building Supply has acquired Fairfax Millwork and Building Products.  The acquisition enables Smitty's to enter a new vertical market segment of Millwork Manufacturing ALEXANDRIA (December 28, 2006) - Smitty's Building Supply, Inc. ( www.smittys.com ), one of the largest lumber and building material distributors in the northern Virginia and metropolitan DC region, announced the asset purchase of Fairfax Millwork and Building Products, based in Springfield, VA .

Fairfax Millwork has a Millwork Manufacturing plant in the DC market. This manufacturing location will be utilized by Smitty’s to take care of a substantial portion of their Interior and Exterior Door and Custom Millwork needs plus handle a sizeable demand from their Fairfax’s current customers.

Founded in 2004 by Tim Tobin, Fairfax Millwork will be expanded to exceed $10.0 million in sales for 2007. Known for its expertise in the Custom Millwork and installation, the company is repeatedly called upon to perform historical reproductions and produce custom Millwork designs.

Tim Tobin will join Smitty's as Sr. Vice President/General Manager – Smitty’s Millwork & Supply. Smitty’s will establish Millwork Manufacturing as a separate division responsible for its own sales and profit performance. Existing Fairfax employees will be integrated into positions in Smitty's new Millwork Manufacturing Division.

According to Don Belt, COO, Smitty's, "The acquisitions of Fairfax Millwork and Building Products and Marvin Window & Door Showplace, announced in November ’06, are part of the Smitty’s strategic plan to develop a total sourcing solution for our customers. Showplace is destined to become the largest regional provider of premium windows and doors in our marketplace. Smitty’s Millwork and Supply will be the largest provider of custom Millwork in Northern Virginia. Fairfax is the third of a series of acquisition planned by Smitty’s.”
